General information about AS9100

In the aviation industry, AS9100 is adopted in most of the countries globally and brought into conformity with the quality management system. It was introduced in October in the year 1999 by organizations or bodies known as European body of Aviation Industries and Society of Automotive Engineers. The ancient version was referred as AS9000. The new version of ISO 9000 is included in the AS9100. The requirements which relate to safety and quality are incorporated. The compliance to or registration to AS9100 is mandatory to most of the aerospace suppliers and manufacturers for them to conduct business transactions in the industry.

Primary quality system

ISO 9001

The ISO 9001 was established by an aerospace supplier of not addressing particular requirements which affect their clients in the process. Boeing firm, NASA and the DOD were the examples of the said customers. A particular quality management standard based on ISO 9001 is offered to the aviation industry. Different organizations were guided by ISO 9001, and their drafted quality requirements or documentation before AS9100 was adopted in the year 1999. Theories of seeking conditions which are regarded to be difficult were created. In the process, the requirements were enacted or compiled by. A unified and single quality standard relating to ISO 9001 was set up in the long run by well-known aerospace manufacturers based in the United States of America. In the process, it gave birth to AS9100. When AS9100 was released in the industry, most of the firms did not prefer to use their own implemented quality requirements.

AS9100 (1999)

The immediate needs were satisfied by AS9100 since it was preferred by principal partners in the aerospace industry. The 9100 known as the standardized document had so many similarities to ISO 9001. The main difference which occurred is that every aerospace association of a country published or drafted their document. Some fifty-five aviation industry particular requirements and amplifications to ISO 9001 were added to AS9100

Revision

ISO 9001

The AS9100 was revised from document B to C. the changes made on the AS9100 document were carried out because of the non-conforming product being delivered on repeated occasions and late deliveries being done by companies which are guided by AS9100 certifications. The processes were insufficient to ensure the controls are effective in the process although the companies had the documented controls. The revision made it possible for the requirements to be elevated for risk management and to be made the important theme.
